Composite resin is a tooth-colored material that bonds directly to the existing tooth structure. Dr. Le removes only the decayed portion of the tooth, places the composite, and cures it to a hard, smooth finish that matches the surrounding enamel. The result is a restoration that functions like a natural tooth and is virtually indistinguishable from it.
Composite fillings offer real clinical advantages beyond appearance. Unlike amalgam, which requires removing more healthy tooth material to create a mechanical lock, composite bonds directly, meaning less of your natural structure is taken away. The material is mercury-free and performs well under normal chewing forces for both front and back teeth.
Dr. Le also offers composite to replace old amalgam fillings for patients who prefer a metal-free result. She assesses each filling individually and will be direct about which ones are worth replacing and which are better left undisturbed. Treatment for its own sake isn't how she practices.
